After early morning pickup from your hotel, residence, or the airport in Dar es Salaam, begin the scenic drive to Mikumi National Park via the Morogoro–Mbeya highway. The journey takes approximately five to six hours.
Arrive in Mikumi in time for lunch before heading out on an afternoon game drive. Mikumi’s open Mkata Plains offer excellent opportunities to spot elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, and lions. As the sun sets, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Spend a full day exploring Mikumi National Park with morning and afternoon game drives. The park’s diverse habitats support large mammals including elephants, buffaloes, lions, giraffes, and antelope species.
Bird enthusiasts will enjoy spotting hornbills, kingfishers, storks, and other savannah and wetland birds. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park before continuing wildlife viewing. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, depart Mikumi National Park and drive to Udzungwa Mountains National Park. The landscape gradually changes from open plains to lush forested mountains.
Upon arrival, enjoy a guided forest walk exploring Udzungwa’s rich biodiversity. The park is home to rare primates, including the endemic Sanje crested mangabey and red colobus monkeys, as well as diverse plant and bird species. After the walk, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight near the park.

Begin the day with an early morning forest walk in Udzungwa Mountains National Park, when wildlife activity is highest. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and scenic trails before returning to the lodge for breakfast.
After breakfast, begin the drive back to Dar es Salaam, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening. You will be dropped off at your hotel, residence, or the airport, marking the end of your Southern Tanzania safari adventure.
